The General Overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has criticised the Federal Government over its celebration of the recent rehabilitation of the River Niger Bridge.

In a video posted on X, Odumeje accused the government of presenting the rehabilitated bridge as though it were a newly constructed facility.

His comments followed remarks by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, that the bridge would be decorated with pictures of President Bola Tinubu upon completion. The comment has attracted criticism from some Nigerians.

“If I see any of you at Onitsha Head Bridge celebrating that you maintained a 1950s bridge for the South-East, Holy Ghost will kill you there,” Odumeje said.

He also criticised the government for showcasing the bridge on social media, comparing the development to celebrating a car that had been parked for decades simply because it had been repainted.

“If you see the way the government is showing this bridge everywhere on the internet, you will think it is a newly constructed bridge, without knowing that it is a bridge built years ago,” he said.

The River Niger Bridge connects Onitsha in Anambra State with Asaba, the Delta State capital, and serves as an important link between the South-East and other parts of the country.
