Nigerian singer Wande Coal has pushed back against the narrative that his former record label boss, Don Jazzy, was solely responsible for his success in the music industry.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, Wande Coal attributed his achievements primarily to God, while acknowledging the role he and Don Jazzy played in their journey together.

The singer said his success should not be credited entirely to Don Jazzy, stressing that God was ultimately responsible for bringing him to prominence.

“God is the reason for my success. I give all the credits to him because he was the one who brought me out and made me successful.”

Wande Coal and Don Jazzy previously worked together during their time at Mo Hits Records, where Wande emerged as one of the label’s prominent artistes.

While recognising their professional relationship, Wande maintained that his career success was ultimately part of a partnership and not something that could be attributed to one person alone.

His comments come amid renewed public discussions about the contributions of Don Jazzy and Mo Hits Records to the careers of several Nigerian artistes who emerged from the label.
