Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 14 people after engaging suspected terrorists who were moving through Madaci Forest in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State with kidnapped victims.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following intelligence on the movement of the terrorists in the area.

The Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the troops swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

Danja said a subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of 14 victims comprising six males and eight females.

Preliminary findings indicated that the victims had been abducted from different locations around Dandume, Bakori and Funtua in Katsina State.

The rescued victims have since been handed over to the relevant local authorities for further assistance and reunification with their families.

Danja said the successful operation underscored the determination of the troops to protect communities and prevent terrorists from carrying out criminal activities in the North-West.

He assured residents that troops would continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and intensify operations across the region.

He also urged members of the public to provide security agencies with timely and useful information to support ongoing military operations.
