IThe South East Youths Stakeholders Forum has congratulated former Imo State Governor and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, His Excellency Rochas Okorocha, following his declaration as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the district, while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately comply with the court order on the matter.

In a press statement made available to journalists in Imo State, the Chairman of the Imo State Chapter of the Forum, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwosu, described the court judgment as a significant development, expressing confidence that truth and justice would ultimately prevail over what the group characterised as propaganda.

The Forum maintained that respect for the rule of law remains fundamental to democratic governance, stressing that all political actors and institutions must uphold judicial decisions in the interest of justice, peace and political stability.

Forum Calls for Immediate Compliance with Court Order

The youth stakeholders urged INEC to take immediate and appropriate steps to implement the court’s directive in accordance with the judgment and applicable laws.

According to the Forum, compliance with judicial decisions is essential to strengthening democratic institutions, preserving public confidence in the electoral process and ensuring that political disputes are resolved through lawful means.

The group emphasised that the development should be approached with a sense of responsibility by all parties involved, urging stakeholders to prioritise the rule of law over personal and political differences.

Appeals to Imo Governor, Supporters to Embrace Reconciliation

Beyond its call for compliance with the court order, the Forum appealed to the Governor of Imo State and his supporters to respect the judicial decision, embrace reconciliation and work towards rebuilding unity within the APC.

It stressed that internal disagreements should not be allowed to undermine the party’s cohesion or weaken its preparations for future electoral engagements.

The Forum further noted that mutual understanding, constructive dialogue and collective commitment among party leaders and stakeholders remain essential to achieving the APC’s political objectives.

According to the statement, the prevailing situation presents an opportunity for party leaders to put aside their differences, restore confidence among members and strengthen cooperation across the party’s structures in Imo State.

South East Youths Reaffirm Support for Tinubu, APC Candidates

The South East Youths Stakeholders Forum also reiterated its commitment to mobilising young people across the region in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC candidates.

The group called on party leaders, elected officials, stakeholders and youth organisations across the South East to intensify efforts towards grassroots mobilisation, political engagement and the promotion of party unity.

It maintained that a united party, supported by active youth participation and effective collaboration among its members, would be better positioned to pursue its electoral ambitions.

The Forum underscored the strategic importance of young people in political mobilisation, urging them to remain committed to democratic values, peaceful engagement and respect for the rule of law.

Unity Remains Key to APC’s Electoral Prospects

The Forum’s position reflects a broader appeal for reconciliation within the Imo State chapter of the APC following the court-related development involving the party’s senatorial nomination for Imo West.

It urged all concerned parties to demonstrate political maturity, respect the judicial process and work collectively towards the party’s success in future elections.

The statement concluded with a renewed call for unity, reconciliation and adherence to the rule of law, noting that the long-term interests of the party and democratic stability should take precedence over individual disagreements.

The press statement was signed by Comrade Ifeanyi Nwosu, Chairman of the Imo State Chapter of the South East Youths Stakeholders Forum.
