The family of late Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has dismissed widespread reports claiming she died from cancer, describing the information circulating on social media as false and misleading.

In a statement shared on the actress’s official Instagram page on Thursday, the family clarified that although Osoba had previously battled breast cancer, the illness was not the cause of her death.

The family expressed sadness over the spread of unverified reports, urging the public to avoid sharing misinformation during their period of mourning.

“We are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved,” the statement read.

It continued, “We wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative and entirely unauthorized.”

While the family did not disclose the actual cause of her sudden death, they assured the public that further information would be released through her official social media page at the appropriate time.

The family also appealed to well-wishers and the general public to respect their privacy and refrain from spreading unconfirmed information, noting that such speculation only adds to their grief.
