Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has denied reports that he rejected an offer to become the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi made the clarification while featuring in an interview on Arise Television.
Responding to a question on whether he had ruled out becoming Atiku’s running mate, Obi said no such offer had ever been presented to him.
He dismissed the claim, stressing that there was no political platform where such an offer was formally on the table.
According to Obi, he was therefore not in a position to reject an offer that had never been made to him.
His comments come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition leaders and political groups explore possible alliances and coalition arrangements.
