Professor Frances Ngozi Chukwukere has been appointed the new Vice Chancellor of K.O. Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, following the approval of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
The appointment takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba.
Chukwukere joins the university from Imo State University, Owerri, where she served as a Professor of Linguistics.
Who is the new VC?
The new Vice Chancellor is known for her academic and advocacy work in areas including indigenous knowledge, health-related advocacy and language preservation.
She was also recently appointed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo to participate in efforts aimed at reviving and strengthening the Igbo language.
Her appointment places her at the helm of K.O. Mbadiwe University as the institution continues its academic and administrative development.
The state government is expected to look to her experience in academia and language studies as she assumes leadership of the university.
