Nigerian comedian and social commentator Mr Macaroni has explained why he is not considering a career in politics.
Speaking in a viral video, he said Nigeria’s political space could corrupt even people who were previously respected.
Mr Macaroni also discussed the challenges of advocating for Nigerians, noting that citizens sometimes turn against those speaking on their behalf.
“The same Nigerians that you speak for turn against you,” he said.
He said observing the political system had made him reluctant to pursue a political career, adding that some people he once respected entered politics and, in his view, damaged the legacies they had built.
The comedian also criticised Nigerians for quickly moving on from economic challenges, particularly fuel price increases, after initially expressing outrage.
He further questioned why Nigerians take pride in being able to endure difficult living conditions, saying surviving hardship should not be something to celebrate.
