The Ministry of Interior has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, claiming that the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) had been postponed until after the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the ministry said the purported release, titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and dated August 11, was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The ministry clarified that the document did not originate from the Ministry of Interior, the Minister’s office, or the CDCFIB.

It described the purported statement as fake, unauthorised and fraudulent, stressing that the minister neither signed nor issued it.

The ministry further stated that no decision had been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general elections.

According to the statement, the CDCFIB recruitment exercise is still ongoing.

The ministry therefore urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the fake document and rely only on information published through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.

Applicants were also advised to use the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for authentic updates regarding the exercise.

The statement was signed electronically by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
