Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru-Bago, has insisted that there are no colonies of terrorist groups operating in the state, despite attacks in some communities.
Bago made the statement on Friday during an interview with journalists after receiving a delegation from the Niger Development Forum at the state’s liaison office in Abuja.
The forum was led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
The governor acknowledged that some parts of Niger State had come under attacks by terrorists, whom he said often entered the state from neighbouring border states to terrorise residents.
“I can tell you that we don’t have any ungoverned space in Niger State. We have places that are being terrorised, that’s a fact. There is no colony of any terrorist or Boko Haram in Niger State,” Bago insisted.
He said his administration was strengthening collaboration with the Federal Government to improve security and protect lives and livelihoods across the state.
“I can reassure you that efforts are being made assiduously. We have a lot of deployments.
“We have a lot of collaborations with the Federal Government, and soon we are going to have a very peaceful Niger and Nigeria,” the governor stated.
