The Enugu State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency, ENSSAA, has reaffirmed the outright ban on the pasting and display of posters across Enugu State, warning violators of fines of up to fifty million naira.
The agency issued the warning on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, ahead of the September 26 local government elections and the 2027 general elections, as political activities intensify across the state.
In a public notice signed by its General Manager, Hon. Francis Aninwike, ENSSAA said the ban is backed by the Enugu State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency Law No. 12 of 2016, which empowers the agency to regulate outdoor advertising and the display of posters and other advertising materials.
ENSSAA stressed that the ban applies to all posters, including those used for political campaigns.
It warned political parties, candidates, aspirants, campaign organisations and their supporters against pasting or displaying posters on buildings, walls, fences, bridges, electricity poles, road infrastructure, public facilities or any public or private surface across the state.
The agency also cautioned printers and printing establishments against producing or facilitating posters intended for unauthorised display, noting that printers linked to violations could face investigation and appropriate sanctions.
According to ENSSAA, indiscriminate pasting of posters defaces public and private property, degrades the environment and undermines the aesthetic appearance of communities across the state.
The agency advised political parties and candidates to utilise radio, television, print and digital media, as well as approved billboards, for their campaigns.
ENSSAA further reiterated that the ban applies without fear or favour to all individuals, organisations and political parties, irrespective of political affiliation or status.
It urged all stakeholders to comply with the directive, warning that anyone caught violating the ban will face the full force of the law, including applicable financial penalties and other sanctions.
