Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly been banned from performing in Edo State following his public exchange with Governor Monday Okpebholo over the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

The controversy began after Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticised the performance of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, during the campaign for the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Okpebholo had alleged that Adeleke’s dancing activities were distracting him from governance.

Reacting to the comment, Davido mocked the Edo governor by sharing his West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on Instagram.

Following Adeleke’s victory in the election, Davido further criticised Okpebholo in an interview with News Central, saying he would not apologise to the governor.

The singer argued that Okpebholo had no right to attack Adeleke, whom he described as a sitting governor performing better than his Edo counterpart.

Davido also challenged Okpebholo in an open letter posted on Instagram, telling the governor to prepare for him.

The development has now reportedly led to Davido being banned from performing in Edo State.
