The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Emmanuel Jacob, over the alleged theft of seven solar panels belonging to the Federal Government Girls’ College, Bauchi.

The command said four of the stolen solar panels had been recovered from the suspect, while efforts were ongoing to recover the remaining three and apprehend those allegedly involved in receiving the stolen property.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued in Bauchi.

According to him, the case was reported and immediately taken up by operatives of the ‘A’ Division, Township, Bauchi, as part of the command’s efforts to protect educational institutions and combat property-related crimes under the Safe School Initiative.

Habib said Jacob, a 26-year-old resident of the Federal Government Girls’ College, was arrested following investigations into the theft.

“During investigation and subsequent operations, four out of the seven stolen solar panels were successfully recovered from the suspect,” the police spokesman said.

He added that detectives were continuing their investigation to recover the remaining three panels and identify and arrest the receiver or receivers allegedly involved in disposing of the stolen items.

The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court after the completion of investigations, the command said.
