Chief Tom Onyeagwa, Ph.D., Idejiuno Mgbidi, has congratulated the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Council, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, following his victory and re-election for a second term in office at the Enugu State Local Government election held on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
In a congratulatory message, Onyeagwa described Okolo’s victory as well-deserved and a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership by the people of Awgu, particularly against the backdrop of what he described as the chairman’s visible and people-oriented projects during his first tenure.
He commended Okolo’s administration for what he characterized as a grassroots-focused approach to governance, noting that the chairman’s administration had made visible efforts toward the development of communities and wards across Awgu Local Government Area.
According to Onyeagwa, Okolo’s re-election provides another opportunity for the chairman to consolidate on the achievements of his first tenure and further advance his development agenda for the people.
He expressed confidence that the chairman would deliver even more impactful projects during his second term, describing him as a leader with “vision and action.”
Onyeagwa particularly urged the re-elected chairman to sustain his commitment to equitable development by ensuring that every community and ward in Awgu receives appropriate attention under his administration.
He also commended Okolo’s reported commitment to ensuring that projects initiated by the council are completed and commissioned for public use rather than abandoned midway.
The Idejiuno Mgbidi stressed that project completion and continuity remained important to ensuring that government investments translate into tangible benefits for residents and communities.
Reflecting on his personal relationship with the chairman, Onyeagwa said he had a unique opportunity to work closely with Okolo during his tenure as Deputy Chairman of the Transition Committee in 2019.
He said the experience gave him firsthand knowledge of Okolo’s dedication, focus, zeal and commitment to the development of Awgu.
“I speak with personal knowledge. I had the privilege of working with you as your Deputy during your stint as Chairman of the Transition Committee in 2019. I saw first-hand your zeal, your uncommon dedication, your focus and your burning desire to develop Awgu. Those qualities have not left you.”
Onyeagwa further expressed confidence in the chairman’s capacity to provide leadership during his second term, declaring that Awgu was “in safe and capable hands.”
He assured Okolo of his continued support, loyalty and prayers, pledging to remain supportive of the administration and its development efforts.
“Congratulations, my Chairman! May your second term be even more fruitful and impactful than the first,” Onyeagwa said.
The message comes as supporters and associates of the re-elected chairman continue to congratulate him on his electoral victory and look forward to the implementation of his agenda for Awgu Local Government in his second term.
