Titi Abubakar, wife of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said her husband would groom his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, on the intricacies of politics if elected president in 2027.

Titi made the statement in a viral video while describing Atiku as an experienced and “sellable material” capable of improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

She said Atiku had indicated that he would serve only one term, but Nigerians would likely demand that he seek a second term after seeing his performance.

“Atiku is not going to learn on the job and he is not a novice,” she said, adding that her husband wanted to contribute to society rather than seek personal financial gains.

Titi said Atiku would use his experience to mentor young people on politics and governance, adding that he could eventually hand over to his deputy after completing his tenure.

She also criticised the state of the Nigerian economy, alleging that the country’s economy was in shambles and that the rule of law was no longer effective.

According to her, an Atiku administration would restore good governance and improve the country’s economic situation.

“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to the saddle, people will yearn that he does a second term. By then, he would have tutored his deputy and maybe the deputy will take over from him,” she added.
