Troops of the Army Headquarters Garrison, in collaboration with Operation SWEEP, have dismantled several illegal shanties and structures suspected of providing cover for criminal activities in parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
The operation was carried out around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, across Karshi, Jeje, Kurape and Nyanya areas of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops raided the locations and pulled down several illegal structures as part of efforts to deny criminal elements potential hideouts within the capital.
The operation was also aimed at strengthening security surveillance and improving monitoring of areas considered vulnerable to criminal activities.
The Mai-Anguwa of Nyanya reportedly commended the troops for the operation and pledged to maintain effective communication with the Army Headquarters Garrison and other security agencies.
He also assured the security agencies of continued cooperation by providing credible information on suspicious activities within the community.
