Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has accepted his appointment as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.
The former Zamfara State governor said he understood the weight of the assignment and would approach it with seriousness and commitment.
“I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude and full seriousness. My sincere thanks go to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party for the trust placed in me, and to our party leadership for the confidence. I do not take it lightly,” Yari said.
He described the 2027 campaign as more than an electoral contest, saying it would provide an opportunity for the APC to engage Nigerians across the country on the future of Nigeria.
According to him, the campaign would involve conversations with Nigerians across different states, languages, faiths and political backgrounds.
Yari pledged that the campaign would be guided by discipline, unity and respect for all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations.
He said preparations would begin immediately, assuring party members and supporters that there would be a role for everyone in the campaign.
The APC campaign council DG also appealed to Nigerians across political divides to support what he described as progress rather than division.
He said the ruling party would seek to win the confidence of Nigerians through its record in government rather than through unnecessary noise.
“By the grace of God, and with the effort of us all, we will deliver victory in January 2027,” Yari stated.
