Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of spending about N60 billion to influence voters during the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

Fayose made the allegation on Monday during an interview with News Central Television, claiming that the funds used for the alleged vote-buying came from taxpayers.

He argued that the APC could not have secured up to 100,000 votes in the election without alleged vote trading, while also criticising the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies for what he described as their failure to prevent electoral malpractice.

Fayose further alleged that armoured vehicles were used in an attempt to manipulate the election and accused the police of using government security equipment to interfere with the electoral process.

He also criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly failing to investigate what he described as financial irregularities surrounding the election.

According to Fayose, voters in Osun resisted attempts to compromise the election, insisting that the outcome would have been significantly different if the election had been completely free and fair.

He maintained that the APC’s performance was largely driven by alleged vote-buying rather than genuine voter support.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and the APC, INEC, police and EFCC were not quoted in the report as responding to the claims.
