The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a self-acclaimed spiritualist, Odigie Moses, over allegations of sextortion involving an Indian woman.

In a statement issued on Friday, the anti-graft agency said the suspect was apprehended in Ekpoma, Edo State, following investigations into the alleged crime.

According to the EFCC, Odigie allegedly posed online as a spiritual healer and was contacted by the victim, who sought spiritual assistance for what she believed were life-threatening challenges.

The commission alleged that the suspect convinced the woman to perform a nude spiritual bath during a live session, which he secretly recorded without her consent.

Investigators said he later threatened to publish the explicit video unless she paid him money. To prevent the footage from being released, the victim reportedly transferred $1,100 to the suspect.

The EFCC said the suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
