The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has arrested six women suspected of engaging in commercial sex work during an operation in Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area of the state.

The operation was conducted recently in the Abuja area of Gadaka by operatives of the commission’s Fika LGA command.

The Head of Administration of the commission in Fika LGA, Malam Musa Abari Talba, disclosed this to newsmen, saying the operation also targeted bars suspected of selling and processing alcoholic drinks.

According to Talba, Hisbah officials also carried out sensitisation activities during the operation, warning residents against activities considered contrary to religious and moral values.

He said the officials engaged residents and urged them to avoid acts considered harmful to the moral fabric of the community and comply with the law.

Talba added that the operation was part of the commission’s mandate to promote peace, discipline and good moral conduct among residents of Yobe State.
