Addressing the gathering, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo thanked the people of Agbuogugu for what he described as a warm reception for him and members of the campaign team.
Okolo commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration and highlighted several state government projects and initiatives which he said were contributing to development in Enugu State and Awgu Local Government Area.
Among the projects he referenced were the Smart Schools initiative, Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, road projects, the proposed farm estate and the Games Village.
The chairman also said Governor Mbah had approved the Ugwueme Road and Nenwenta Road projects, presenting them as part of the administration’s infrastructure and development efforts in the area.
Enugu State Government has separately reported major investments in roads, education and primary healthcare, including 1,521 kilometres of constructed or reconstructed roads, more than 7,000 classrooms and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres.
CALL FOR CONTINUITY
Okolo urged residents to continue engaging with government programmes and initiatives, stressing the importance of continuity in sustaining development projects.
His remarks focused on the relationship between ongoing government projects, grassroots participation and the expectations of communities across Awgu.
CAMPAIGN ENDS, ATTENTION TURNS TO THE POLLS
With the Agbuogugu gathering, the APC campaign activities in Awgu Local Government Area formally moved into their concluding phase ahead of Saturday’s election.
The finale provided another opportunity for party leaders, community stakeholders and residents to interact directly, express political preferences and raise issues relating to governance and development.
The campaign period also comes against the backdrop of a peace accord signed by seven political parties participating in the Enugu council elections. ENSIEC said the agreement was intended to promote decorum and peaceful, non-violent and inclusive participation before, during and after the polls.
As the September 26 election approaches, political parties and candidates now turn their attention from campaign rallies to the electoral process, with community expectations and development concerns remaining prominent issues in grassroots political engagement.
