The Executive Director of Projects, South East Development Commission, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Okechukwu made the declaration during the ongoing grassroots mobilisation campaign of the APC in Ugbo Community, comprising Ugbokpala, Ngene Ugbo and Ugbonabo, as the campaign team led by the Awgu Local Government Chairman engaged community leaders, political stakeholders, women, youths and other residents ahead of the September 26, 2026 Local Government Chairmanship Election.
The former Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, who represented the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, commended what he described as the development initiatives of the Mbah administration in Enugu State and those of the Okolo-led administration in Awgu Local Government Area. His former position as Deputy Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives is documented by the National Assembly and other legislative records.
Okechukwu particularly expressed his support for Governor Mbah and Chairman Okolo, while reaffirming his continued support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing residents and stakeholders at Ugbo, Okechukwu encouraged the people to remain engaged with government programmes and initiatives, stressing the importance of continuity and sustained attention to community development.
He also emphasised the significance of effective representation, grassroots participation and responsive programmes capable of addressing the needs and aspirations of local communities.
The former federal lawmaker’s declaration comes amid ongoing political engagements across Awgu Local Government Area, where the APC campaign team has continued its grassroots interactions with communities ahead of the September 26 council election.
The Ugbo engagement, which covered Ugbokpala, Ngene Ugbo and Ugbonabo, provided an opportunity for political stakeholders and residents to interact with the campaign team and discuss issues relating to development, representation and the future of their communities.
The development-focused discussions formed part of the wider grassroots campaign activities taking place across Awgu, with community meetings providing platforms for stakeholders to express their views and publicly state their political positions.
Okechukwu’s reaffirmation of support further underscored his stated alignment with the APC candidates and the administrations of President Tinubu, Governor Mbah and Chairman Okolo as the political season progresses.
