The opening prayer was led by Rev. Canon Victor Nnalue, while the Onowu of Agbudu, Chief John Igwesi, also offered prayers with the traditional presentation of kola nut.

Speaking at the gathering, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, member of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing Awgu North Constituency, thanked Chairman Okolo, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike and members of the campaign train for visiting the community.

She also appealed to Chairman Okolo to give attention to sections of the Agbudu road that require improvement, stressing the importance of a better road network to the community.

The request formed part of broader appeals by community stakeholders for government to continue addressing infrastructure and other development needs at the grassroots.

ISUU AWAA GIVES CAMPAIGN TRAIN WARM RECEPTION

The campaign team also visited Isuu Awaa Community, where Chairman Okolo and members of the delegation were received by residents and party supporters.

Speaking during the engagement, APC State Chairman Dr. Martins Chukwunweike welcomed the campaign team and spoke about the development projects of the state government and the local government administration.

He called on voters to support President Tinubu, Governor Mbah, Chairman Okolo and other APC candidates, while urging party supporters to remain united and peaceful during the election period.

He also reminded supporters that the APC’s symbol on the ballot is the broom.

OKOLO THANKS COMMUNITIES, PROMISES CONTINUED ENGAGEMENT

Responding to the various messages, requests and expressions of support, Chairman Uchenna Joseph Okolo thanked the people of Ituku, Isuu Awaa and Agbudu for the warm reception accorded the campaign team.

He also expressed appreciation to APC State Chairman Dr. Martins Chukwunweike and other party leaders for their participation in the campaign tour.

The chairman appealed for support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, while seeking the mandate of residents for the September 26 local government election.

He assured the communities that his administration would continue to engage with residents, listen to their concerns and pursue projects aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions across Awgu.

GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN GAINS MOMENTUM

The campaign tour of Ituku, Isuu Awaa and Agbudu represents another phase of the APC’s ongoing grassroots mobilisation across Awgu Local Government Area.

The engagements combined political mobilisation with community-level discussions, allowing residents to voice their concerns and development priorities before political leaders.

With the September 26 local government election approaching, political activities across Enugu State have intensified. ENSIEC said on September 14 that it was more than 90 per cent ready for the election and that preparations, including logistics and training of electoral personnel, were nearing completion.
