The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has condemned an attack on its members in Kaduna State, warning that the growing use of thuggery could pose a serious threat to the 2027 electoral process.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the incident as an unacceptable escalation of political violence, particularly as preparations for the 2027 elections are beginning.
The party said its commitment to peaceful democratic participation should not be mistaken for weakness, stressing that no political party or group has a monopoly on violence.
The ADC called on security agencies to immediately investigate the attack, identify those responsible and prosecute anyone found to have sponsored or organised the incident.
The party also expressed solidarity with its Kaduna governorship candidate, Hon. Isa Ashiru, and other members affected by the attack.
It urged the Kaduna State Government to provide adequate protection for opposition parties and ensure that all political groups are allowed to participate freely in the electoral process.
The ADC maintained that it would not be intimidated, pledging to organise, campaign and compete across Kaduna State, while insisting that the 2027 elections should be determined by ideas and votes rather than violence and intimidation.
