Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to protect his vote in the 2027 presidential election, declaring that he is prepared to risk his life to ensure Nigerians’ votes count.

Obi made the statement at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, urging Nigerians not to allow anyone intimidate or scare them at polling units during the election.

He also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against manipulating or altering election results, stressing the need for transparent and credible electoral processes.

According to Obi, the number of electoral officials at polling units would not be enough to intimidate or control voters if Nigerians collectively stand up to protect their votes.

He said efforts would also be made to prevent network problems and other technical issues from affecting the uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

Obi maintained that Nigerians must take responsibility for protecting the integrity of the 2027 election, warning that allowing electoral irregularities to persist could have serious consequences for the country.
