The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he would concede the 2027 presidential election if the process is free, fair and credible.

Obi stated this during an interview with Arise Television aired on Thursday.

Asked whether he would accept defeat if he loses the election, the former Anambra State governor said he would respect the outcome if it reflected the will of the people.

“If the election is free, fair, and credible, I will because it’s an election. It’s the people that would say who they want to serve them, and I will respect the will of the people because that’s democracy,” he said.

However, Obi maintained that he won the 2023 presidential election, saying those who conducted the election were aware of the records and what happened during the process.

“As long as I live, I would maintain that I won the 2023 presidential election,” he said.

He added that he had chosen to leave the matter in the past and focus on the 2027 election.
