Former Kogi West lawmaker, Dino Melaye, has accused President Bola Tinubu of desperation over the appointment of the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, as Deputy Director of Fundraising for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign.

Melaye made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, where he said he would challenge the appointment in court.

The former lawmaker argued that Adedeji, whose appointment as NRS chairman was confirmed by the Senate, is expected to comply with existing laws and public service regulations.

According to Melaye, Adedeji cannot simultaneously serve as NRS chairman and participate in fundraising for the campaign of a sitting president, describing the arrangement as a conflict of interest.

He further accused the Tinubu administration and the All Progressives Congress of acting out of desperation, insisting that public officials should not use their positions to serve partisan political interests.

Melaye also alleged that the reported suspension of the campaign list followed his criticism of the appointment, dismissing the explanation that some names were missing from the list.

He maintained that he would pursue the matter legally, insisting that Nigeria must not be treated as a “banana republic.”
