President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited will eventually be listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited as part of his administration’s ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector.
Tinubu made the disclosure while receiving the management of the Nigerian Exchange Limited at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
The President said his administration aims to transform the NNPCL into a globally competitive energy company comparable to Saudi Arabia’s Aramco through comprehensive reforms and the full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.
According to him, the long-term goal is to list the entire NNPCL on the Nigerian Exchange, rather than only parts of the company.
Tinubu also praised the Nigerian Exchange for its growth, noting that the market had reached a valuation of ₦158 trillion during his administration’s reform programme.
Reiterating his commitment to expanding private sector participation in the economy, the President said his support for the Dangote Refinery was driven by the need to encourage greater private investment and stimulate economic growth.
