Suspected bandits have attacked the base of Operation Burst, a joint security outfit comprising personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Army, in Oyo State.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the security base located along the Igbeti/Igboho road, between Olorunsogo and Oorelope Local Government Areas.

The incident reportedly occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government Area, Kazeem Olayanju, confirmed the attack, saying no casualty was recorded.

He said the attackers set fire to the security post constructed for the personnel and also burnt an abandoned vehicle at the location.

According to him, the suspects also carted away a generator and motorcycle belonging to the security outfit.

“The information is true. But there is no casualty. They burnt the security post we constructed for them,” Olayanju said.

He added that the incident occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., while authorities are expected to investigate the attack.
