It was a memorable celebration of faith, gratitude, service and enduring commitment to God as family members, friends, priests, parishioners and well-wishers gathered at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Obeagu, in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, to celebrate the Priestly Silver Jubilee of Reverend Father Edmund Chibueze Ani.
The colourful celebration, which brought together people from different walks of life, marked 25 years of Father Ani’s priestly ministry and 42 years of dedicated service to God in the Church, providing an opportunity for the community to honour a priest whose life has been defined by humility, compassion, generosity and selfless service.
At the heart of the celebration was a profound testimony of faith — the story of a young boy from Obeagu who once dreamt of becoming a priest and who, decades later, stood before the altar to celebrate 25 years of answering that call.
For Father Ani, the journey is best summed up in two words: “Amazing Grace.”
A QUIET SHEPHERD, A HUMBLE SERVANT, A BLESSING TO MANY
For 25 years, Rev. Fr. Edmund Chibueze Ani has quietly and faithfully served God and humanity, touching lives through his pastoral ministry and his commitment to the advancement of individuals and communities.
Beyond the sanctuary and the altar, his years of service have been marked by a strong commitment to education, human capital development, poverty alleviation and community growth.
Through quiet generosity, compassion and dedication, Father Ani has contributed to the wellbeing of many people, leaving behind a trail of lives touched and individuals inspired.

The celebration commenced with a Holy Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Obeagu, where the celebrant reflected on his remarkable journey of faith and priestly service.
In his homily, Father Ani recounted some of the experiences, challenges, trials and blessings that have shaped his 25 years in the priesthood.
Looking back at the journey, he expressed profound gratitude to God for sustaining him through the years, describing his transition from a young boy with a dream of becoming a priest to a man celebrating 25 years at the altar as nothing short of a miracle of God’s grace.
He acknowledged that the Christian journey is not without difficulties, trials and moments of uncertainty, but said his focus throughout the years has remained firmly on Jesus Christ.
For him, the journey has never been about the absence of challenges, but about the grace to overcome them and remain committed to the call to serve God and His people.
Father Ani’s reflection offered a powerful reminder of the strength of faith and the importance of remaining steadfast in one’s calling, particularly in moments of difficulty.

Speaking during the celebration, Father Edmund Chibueze Ani expressed deep joy and appreciation to God and to everyone who came to celebrate the milestone with him.
He looked back with gratitude on his journey from a young boy in the village who aspired to become a priest to becoming a priest who has spent a quarter of a century ministering to God’s people.
According to him, the words “Amazing Grace” best capture the story of his life and ministry.
His testimony was one of gratitude rather than personal accomplishment, as he repeatedly acknowledged the role of God’s grace in sustaining him through the years.
He also offered prayers for his family members, friends, parishioners and well-wishers, asking God to bless them abundantly, grant them prosperity and give them joy and fulfilment in serving God and humanity.
ANI FAMILY GIVES THANKS TO GOD
Following the Holy Mass, the Ani family held a thanksgiving in appreciation of the milestone and the gift of priestly vocation.
Prayers and blessings were offered as family members expressed gratitude to God for the life, ministry and continued strength of their brother and son.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Sir Ikechukwu Ani, the immediate younger brother of the celebrant, expressed appreciation to God for the successful celebration.
He prayed for continued divine guidance, wisdom, strength and protection for Father Ani as he continues his priestly ministry.
He also thanked the family members, friends, priests, parishioners and well-wishers who travelled from different places and made time to identify with the Ani family on the historic occasion.
“A SPECIAL DAY FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY”
Also speaking, Uzodinma Donatus, a relation of the celebrant, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to witness such a significant milestone.
He thanked God for sustaining Father Ani throughout his years of priestly service and appreciated all those who came together to celebrate the occasion with the family.
Another member of the family, Nnaemeka Ani, the celebrant’s younger brother, described the occasion as a special day not only for the Ani family but for the entire Obeagu community.
Nnaemeka recalled that the expression “Amazing Grace” has always had a special place in Father Ani’s life, saying the words were associated with his brother even from childhood.
He described Father Ani’s 25-year journey in the priesthood as a clear manifestation of God’s grace and expressed gratitude for the impact of his brother’s service to the Church, the family and the community.
He further prayed that the family and community would remain alive, healthy and strong enough to gather again to celebrate Father Ani’s Golden Jubilee — 50 years in the priesthood.
COLOURFUL RECEPTION AT IGWEBUIKE PRIMARY SCHOOL FIELD
The celebration later moved to the Igwebuike Primary School Field, where family members, friends, parishioners and well-wishers gathered for a colourful reception in honour of the Silver Jubilarian.
The reception provided an atmosphere of joy, thanksgiving, reunion and celebration, as guests joined the Ani family to celebrate a milestone that has immense significance for the Church, the family and the community.
The gathering featured moments of heartfelt appreciation, prayers, goodwill messages and expressions of gratitude for Father Ani’s years of service.
A major highlight of the reception was the cutting of the anniversary cake.
Surrounded by members of his family, priests, friends and well-wishers, Father Ani cut the Silver Jubilee cake, formally marking the 25-year milestone in an atmosphere filled with joy and thanksgiving.
PRIESTS, FAMILY, FRIENDS AND PARISHIONERS HONOUR THE JUBILARIAN
The celebration was attended by officiating priests, including Reverend Fathers Kingsley Onwumere, Pascal, Bartholomew, Henry, Joel Ikechukwu and Basil Ezika.
They were joined by members of the Ani family, friends, parishioners and well-wishers who came to celebrate the priest and identify with his remarkable journey.
Their presence underscored the significance of Father Ani’s ministry and the deep relationships he has built over the years through his service to God and humanity.
The gathering also became an opportunity for people who had encountered Father Ani at different stages of his ministry to collectively celebrate the grace of God upon his life.
