The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not in a position to win the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike stated that the party’s immediate focus should be on winning elective positions at the state level while rebuilding and repositioning itself for the 2031 general election.
According to the minister, the PDP is currently facing internal challenges that make it unrealistic to expect victory in the next presidential poll.
He stressed that leadership of a country requires long-term planning and a well-organised political structure, rather than last-minute preparations.
Wike maintained that the party must first resolve its internal crisis, strengthen its foundation and regain public confidence before mounting a serious challenge for the presidency in 2031.
