Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen could be handed his preferred number nine shirt if he completes a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Nigerian forward has emerged as a potential target in transfer discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray, with his future increasingly attracting attention.

Galatasaray are reportedly considering offers from Atletico Madrid and Al-Hilal for Osimhen. However, talks between the Turkish champions and Arsenal over the London club’s players, including Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Martinelli, have also opened the possibility of Osimhen moving to the Premier League.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is understood to be looking to strengthen his attacking options following Viktor Gyökeres’ mixed debut campaign and the expected departure of Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus currently wears Arsenal’s number nine shirt, but his potential move to Napoli could leave the number available.

If Osimhen joins Arsenal, the vacant shirt could therefore be handed to the Nigerian striker, who also wears the number nine for the Super Eagles.

A move to Arsenal would give Osimhen an opportunity to return to the Premier League and continue his career at one of England’s top clubs.
