Kira Taiwo, daughter of late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has shared the emotional messages she exchanged with her father shortly before his death.
Kira posted the conversations on her Instagram Story on Monday, giving fans a glimpse into one of the final exchanges she had with the actor.
The messages were exchanged on July 26, when Ogogo encouraged his daughter to remain strong after apparently hearing that she had been crying.
In the conversation, the actor told Kira that seeing her and her sisters smile was giving him strength. He pleaded with her not to cry because it would make him sad and cause him to worry.
He wrote:
“How are you? I heard you are crying. Seeing you and your sisters smile is making me strong. If you cry, it will make me sad, and I will start to think.”
Ogogo, who was 66 years old when he died on Sunday, also reassured his daughter that he was strong and urged her to remain hopeful.
He added:
“Be strong. I am strong. Nothing is going to happen to me, insha Allah. If you do, then don’t cry, my princess.”
Kira responded by assuring her father that she was not crying and reaffirming her faith.
The messages have attracted emotional reactions from fans and colleagues of the veteran actor, particularly because they were exchanged only days before his death.
Ogogo was widely celebrated as one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language Nollywood, with a career spanning several decades. His death has prompted tributes from actors, musicians, government officials and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
His family has also received condolences from colleagues and fans as preparations for his burial continue.
