The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced its petrol pump price to ₦1,370 per litre after increasing it to ₦1,405 over the weekend.
A market survey by UGAMATV on Monday showed that NNPCL filling stations in Abuja adjusted their prices downward by ₦35 per litre, returning to the previous rate of ₦1,370.
The report indicated that NNPCL outlets in Berger, Wuse Zone 6 and Wuse Zone 4 sold petrol at ₦1,370 per litre on Monday.
The development comes amid the company’s ₦66-per-litre discount, which is available exclusively to motorists using its recently introduced mobile application.
NEWSMEN reports that MRS and other filling stations across the country had also increased their petrol prices.
The latest adjustment follows a proposal by the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, last Thursday to introduce a fixed petrol price of ₦1,350 per litre at NNPCL filling stations.
The proposal sparked debate, with some describing the measure as a return to fuel subsidy.
However, Oyedele and the Presidency dismissed the claims, insisting that the initiative was a discount rather than a reintroduction of fuel subsidy.
