The Nigerian Army has arrested two soldiers for allegedly providing unauthorised security at the wedding of social media personalities Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and Jarvis, held in Lekki, Lagos.
The soldiers, identified as Privates Onasanya Ifeoluwa and Ukpai Onyinyechi, are attached to the Nigerian Army Medical Services and Hospital in Obalende, Lagos.
Their arrest was confirmed by the spokesperson for the 81 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, who disclosed that the personnel were taken into custody on Tuesday, August 4.
According to reports, the soldiers were arrested after videos from the wedding went viral on social media, showing them in military uniform performing security duties and escorting guests around the venue.
One of the widely circulated clips allegedly showed a soldier escorting a popular TikTok personality through the crowd, prompting questions over whether serving military personnel were authorised to provide security at a private celebrity event.
The incident has generated widespread public reactions, with many Nigerians calling for clarification on the circumstances surrounding the soldiers’ deployment.
The Nigerian Army has not announced further details on the outcome of its investigation.
