Nigeria is set to release its inflation figure for July 2026 on Monday.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) is expected to publish the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and inflation report for the month.

The latest Inflation Expectation Survey by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that Nigerians continued to perceive the prices of goods and services as high in July.

According to the survey, the Inflation Perception Index stood at 40 points during the month.

“The Inflation Perception Index stood at 40.0 points in July 2026, indicating that respondents generally perceived current prices of goods and services to be high,” the CBN stated.

Nigeria’s headline inflation had declined to 15.91 per cent in June, marking the first drop in the inflation rate under the current rebased Consumer Price Index. Food inflation also stood at 17.52 per cent, according to the NBS.

Major factors driving inflation in the country include energy costs such as petrol, cooking gas, diesel and electricity, as well as exchange-rate movements, interest rates, transportation costs and insecurity.

The July inflation report is expected to provide further insight into the direction of consumer prices and the state of Nigeria’s economy.
