The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said Nigeria would be governed remotely until President Bola Tinubu returns to the country.
Baba-Ahmed made the remark while reacting to the President’s decision to extend his working vacation in Europe by a few days.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for London before travelling to Paris, France, where he met French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. He is now expected to return to Nigeria at the weekend.
The PRP chairman noted that both Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were currently outside the country, with Shettima in New York for the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
However, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, had maintained that the President could govern Nigeria from anywhere in the world.
Reacting in a post on X, Baba-Ahmed said: “PBAT, C-in-C has extended his leave at a time VP is out of the country. We will be governed remotely until the President returns.”
He added that the situation was occurring at a time Nigerians were preparing to decide whether they wanted continuity or a major change in leadership.
