Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has insisted that his “conscience is clear” following his fallout with captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo left the national team camp on Wednesday ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League clash with Denmark.
The 41-year-old was reportedly upset with Jesus over comments made by the coach at a press conference after Ronaldo was left as an unused substitute in Portugal’s Sunday match against Norway.
Following his departure from the camp, Ronaldo issued a statement promising to reveal the “truth” about the circumstances surrounding his exit.
“I am completely relaxed, with a clear conscience regarding this situation.
“After Sunday’s match, we will talk about everything,” Jesus told Sport TV.
Ronaldo’s departure has since sparked discussions about the disagreement between the Portugal captain and the head coach.
