Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant Daniel Onjeh has withdrawn his support for President Bola Tinubu and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Onjeh announced his decision on Thursday while sharing footage of his recent meeting with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) also declared his support for the Obidient movement and its presidential figurehead, Peter Obi.

In a message accompanying the video, Onjeh said his principles had been misunderstood by APC leaders, adding that he had now chosen a different political path.

“They misconstrued my principles as stubbornness. Now, I’m humbly Obidient. You go where you’re valued.”

Although Onjeh did not state a specific reason for his decision, his move comes after he failed to secure the APC senatorial ticket ahead of the January election.

He had previously been a strong supporter of President Tinubu and Governor Alia before the APC senatorial primary held in May 2026.

The development represents a significant political shift for Onjeh as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
