Gunmen reportedly attacked St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inoyi, in the Affa community of Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State, during a Sunday morning service, abducting a seminarian and a worshipper.

Reports circulating on social media claim the attackers stormed the church while Mass was in progress and initially kidnapped a seminarian, a catechist and another worshipper. The catechist was later released, while the seminarian and the other victim were reportedly taken away by the assailants.

According to eyewitness accounts shared online, local youths have launched a search operation in nearby bushes but are proceeding cautiously due to the alleged heavy weaponry carried by the kidnappers.

The incident has reportedly thrown the community into panic, with residents calling on security agencies and the Enugu State Government to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and address the growing insecurity in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, the Enugu State Police Command had not released an official statement confirming the incident.
