Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has reacted to criticism of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, by Arise TV anchor, Oseni Rufai.

During the television station’s morning show on Friday, Rufai questioned Obi’s preparedness for the 2027 presidential election, citing alleged disagreements within his political camp and the absence of a manifesto.

Speaking during the programme, Rufai said Obi was at loggerheads with the NDC and the OK Movement, amid what he described as widespread disarray.

He also questioned the whereabouts of Obi’s manifesto, arguing that the former Anambra State governor had not clearly articulated his position on the fuel subsidy debate.

Rufai said: “As of today, Peter Obi is at loggerheads with the NDC and the OK Movement, amid widespread disarray. Today, people are even asking where Obi’s manifesto is.

“Peter Obi was found nowhere in the fuel subsidy debate. There is flip-flopping in what he is saying on the subsidy debate; earlier, he said he would keep the subsidy; now he is saying he will remove the subsidy but that he will first correct the corruption there. So a lot of people are finding him flip-flopping.”

The Arise TV anchor further claimed that Obi had lost several supporters who backed him during the previous election cycle.

He also questioned how the former governor would navigate the political landscape ahead of the January elections.

Reacting to Rufai’s remarks, Bwala described the comments as a confessional statement, suggesting that the opposition was beginning to recognise the political reality.

In a post on his official X handle, Bwala shared a video of Rufai’s comments and wrote: “Confessional statement is admissible in court. Lolll eyes Dey clear small small.”
