Former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has publicly apologised to actress Regina Daniels and her family for testifying against her during her dispute with Senator Ned Nwoko.
The apology comes nearly a year after Rollas alleged that Regina abused substances on movie sets.
At the time, Rollas said the actress needed help and named prominent actors, including Jide Kosoko, Charles Inojie and Okey Bakassi, whom he claimed had witnessed her alleged substance abuse.
Regina subsequently criticised Rollas, accusing him of misconduct and questioning his actions.
However, in a new development, the former AGN president issued a public apology in a post on his Instagram page on Thursday.
Expressing regret over how he handled the matter, Rollas said he should not have made the statements while the family was going through a difficult personal situation.
“I regret the timing, the platform and the manner in which I handled it. I made those statements at a time when a family was going through a deeply personal and difficult period. I shouldn’t have taken that path.
“Without excuses or conditions, I sincerely apologise to Mrs. Rita Daniels’ family, Regina Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko, the AGN Board of Trustees, and all my colleagues whose names I mentioned,” he said.
Rollas acknowledged that he had made a mistake, describing himself as human.
