The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP A.M. Bello, has urged residents to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration to promote peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence across the state.
Bello made the call in a goodwill message commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), urging Muslim faithful to reflect on his teachings of peace, compassion, patience, justice and love for humanity.
The commissioner said sustainable security and development could only be achieved in an environment of peace and unity.
He appealed to parents, religious leaders, community leaders and youths to encourage peaceful coexistence, responsible citizenship and respect for one another.
Bello also urged residents to reject violence, criminality, hate speech and other activities capable of threatening peace and security in Zamfara State.
He called on Muslims to use the occasion to pray for continued peace, security and prosperity in Zamfara State and Nigeria, while seeking divine guidance for the country’s leaders.
The commissioner further advised residents to celebrate the religious occasion peacefully and responsibly, in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
