Operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos, have reportedly arrested Pastor Ekenedirichukwu Ede, a supervisor with MEKNOFIL ENERGY LTD, in connection with an alleged theft of solar street lights and poles said to be worth approximately ₦120 million.
According to information surrounding the case, Pastor Ede was taken into custody by FCID operatives over allegations relating to the disappearance of solar street lights and poles reportedly belonging to MEKNOFIL ENERGY LTD from the company’s warehouse in Emene, Enugu State.
The alleged incident has attracted attention because of the suspect’s reported position as a supervisor within the company and the substantial value of the equipment said to be involved.
Sources familiar with the allegations claim that some of the solar street lights and poles were allegedly removed from the company’s warehouse and subsequently sold to individuals in Lagos. The circumstances surrounding the alleged movement and sale of the equipment are expected to form part of the ongoing investigation.
The FCID is reportedly investigating the circumstances under which the equipment allegedly went missing, the quantity and value of the items involved, the identities of any other persons who may have been connected to the alleged transactions, and whether any criminal offence was committed.
The investigation may also seek to establish how the equipment was allegedly removed from the company’s warehouse, whether proper authorization was obtained, and where the items allegedly ended up.
However, the allegations have not been established in court. The arrest of Pastor Ekenedirichukwu Ede does not amount to a declaration of guilt, and he remains entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence unless and until a court of competent jurisdiction determines otherwise.
The exact circumstances of the reported arrest, the precise value of the allegedly missing equipment, and whether other individuals are involved remain subject to investigation.
As the FCID continues its inquiry, further developments are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged disappearance of the solar street lights and poles and determine whether criminal charges will eventually be filed.
UgamaTV News will continue to monitor the development and report verified updates as they emerge.
