Excitement is building across Enugu State as the maiden edition of Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 draws closer, with the much-anticipated youth engagement programme scheduled to hold in exactly one week.
The event, billed for Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, is being convened by the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Peter Ogbonna Eze.
With the theme, “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission,” the programme is expected to provide young people with direct access to information, guidance and networks capable of opening new pathways in their careers, businesses and personal development.
The initiative has continued to generate growing interest among young people in Enugu and beyond, particularly among graduates, students, entrepreneurs, job seekers, professionals and others searching for credible opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
At the heart of the initiative is a simple but significant challenge: many young people are not necessarily lacking talent or qualifications, but are often unable to find, understand or effectively access available opportunities.
For years, young Nigerians have sought reliable information on employment opportunities, scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, government programmes, private-sector opportunities, digital careers, entrepreneurship, leadership and professional development.
Peter Eze Youth Connect is therefore being positioned as a platform designed to bridge that information and access gap by bringing relevant opportunities closer to the people who need them most.
Unlike conventional youth programmes that often revolve primarily around speeches and motivational addresses, the organisers say the initiative is focused on practical information, access, guidance, connection and action.
Speaking on the vision behind the programme, Eze explained that the objective is to ensure that young people move beyond merely hearing that opportunities exist to actually understanding how to pursue them.
“Our objective is to help young people understand where legitimate opportunities exist, how to identify them, how to apply, what is required, and how to position themselves for success,” Eze said.
He noted that thousands of young Nigerians possess the qualifications, talent and determination required to succeed but are sometimes disadvantaged by the absence of timely, accurate and accessible information.
According to him, Peter Eze Youth Connect was conceived to help close that gap by creating a platform where young people can learn, connect and position themselves for opportunities available within Nigeria and internationally.
The programme is expected to attract participants from across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, creating an opportunity for young people from different backgrounds and professional interests to interact, learn and build valuable connections.
Eze has urged Enugu youths to take full advantage of the programme, stressing that the combination of accurate information, adequate preparation and determination can significantly increase their chances of succeeding.
He also challenged young people to move away from a passive approach to opportunity and instead develop the skills and confidence required to identify, pursue and maximise legitimate opportunities.
As the countdown enters its final seven days, expectations are steadily rising ahead of the historic gathering.
For many young people, the significance of Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 may ultimately lie not simply in the number of people who attend, but in the opportunities, knowledge, relationships and practical steps that participants take away from the event.
