The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM) branch, has suspended its four-week “No Pay, No Work” industrial action.
The union announced the suspension in a statement signed by its branch chairperson, Terseer Abari, and made available to journalists on Sunday.
Abari said the decision followed progress made during negotiations and the resolution of some issues that led to the strike.
“Consequently, the Congress directed all members of the Branch to resume their official duties with effect from Friday, 11th September 2026,” the statement read.
The ASUU chairman commended members for their resilience, unity and commitment throughout the industrial action, saying the outcome demonstrated the importance of collective action in advancing the welfare of university workers.
He also appreciated the university management for its cooperation and efforts toward resolving the dispute.
Abari said the union remained committed to constructive engagement with the management on staff welfare, members’ interests and the development of the institution.
The FUAM ASUU branch commenced the strike on August 12, 2026, over demands for the full payment of members’ Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance and Professorial Allowance.
