Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused his predecessor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of orchestrating a campaign of intimidation, arrests and violence against members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

In a statement shared on his X account, Adeleke alleged that the state has witnessed repeated police raids, disruption of local government administration and attacks on residents in recent months.

The governor claimed that more than 60 members of the Accord Party had been arrested and taken to Abuja, where they are allegedly being detained without formal charges.

Adeleke further alleged that the actions were politically motivated and carried out at the instance of Oyetola, claiming they were aimed at influencing the outcome of the forthcoming governorship election.

He warned that the alleged intimidation of political opponents and the misuse of federal institutions pose a threat to Nigeria’s democracy and the rule of law.

The governor also referenced the reported freezing of the Osun State Government’s bank accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing it as part of the broader challenges facing his administration.

Despite the allegations, Adeleke said his administration and political party would continue their campaigns ahead of the August 15 election.

As of the time of filing this report, Gboyega Oyetola had not publicly responded to the allegations.
