The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old primary school teacher, Garba Suleiman, for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl in Damare, Yola South Local Government Area.
The suspect, who is a resident of the area, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim’s family at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola South.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, preliminary investigations revealed that Suleiman allegedly lured the minor and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yola for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The command said the CP condemned all forms of gender-based violence and assured the public that justice would be served.
