A farmer identified as Hammasumo Ali has lost his left hand following an alleged attack by a herdsman in the Nyashika area of Gumti Ward, Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident was disclosed in a statement by the Secretary of Information of Toungo LGA, Daniel Pogu Toungo.
According to the statement, the clash occurred when Ali attempted to stop a herdsman from allowing his cattle to graze on his farmland.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a confrontation, during which the herdsman allegedly attacked Ali with a machete, leaving him with severe injuries that resulted in the loss of his left hand.
Ali is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, the statement said.
Following the incident, the Chairman of Toungo LGA, Hajiya Hauwa Guruja, visited the injured farmer at the hospital and expressed sympathy over his condition.
Guruja urged residents to maintain peace, respect one another’s rights and resolve disputes through dialogue to prevent further violence in the community.
