President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other relevant security agencies to commence a coordinated operation to rescue victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State.
The directive follows the abduction of dozens of worshippers who were reportedly taken by terrorists during Friday’s Juma’at prayers.
The incident occurred across four communities in Borgu Local Government Area of the state — Dekara, Kpenya, Sabon-Gida and Gidan-Zana.
The President’s directive places renewed emphasis on the immediate rescue of the abducted worshippers and efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
Security agencies are expected to combine intelligence gathering, surveillance and ground operations in the effort to locate the victims and bring them back safely.
